HYMENOPLASTY (HYMENOPLASTY)
What is the Hymen?
The hymen consists of a membranous fold at the entrance to the vagina, a thin fold of skin. There are different types of hymen. Normal variations of the pubertal hymen range from thin and flexible to thick and slightly hard. The most common shape is the circular (ring) type, which has a hole in the center of the hymen through which menstrual blood is discharged. Different shapes of the vagina can cause problems in women such as vaginismus or painful sexual intercourse.
Hymenoplasty
Himenoplasty, (also known as hymen reconstruction or hymen repair). It is a surgical intervention involving the reconstruction of the hymen. Hymenoplasty is an operation to repair the residual tissue of the hymen to replicate the first sexual intercourse. It is also called ‘Revirgination’. It is also considered in aesthetic genital surgery. Preserving virginity before marriage is still important in many parts of the world. Especially in some countries, hymenoplasty operations are quite common. The purpose of the procedure is to restore bleeding when women have their next sexual intercourse. The surgery does not return the hymen to its former state, the purpose of this application is to create a tissue that will restore bleeding in that area.
